MEMORIES OF THE SOUL TAKER.
Darkness was fading to the light of day. His work was done for another night so silently he walked back into the forest. He always carried a large golden urn, holding on to it made his existence bearable. He was called the evil one, the taker of souls and the master of pain. He indeed was the Lord of Darkness. Slowly he walked up to the gaits of hell, but he did not enter. He turned and looked down the path he just crossed. He knew he wasn't alone. As his glowing green eyes scanned the forest he saw her. She was standing perfectly still just looking at him. This was not the first time their paths crossed. In the past she always kept her distance but this time she was much closer to him. He could smell the sweetness of her perfume as it filled the air around him. Her face haunted him. He knew that it was familiar but he could not place it. His memories of the past were lost when he died and went to hell. His purpose now was to collect as many souls as possible to stand along side of him in eternal damnation. He put his urn down and slowly moved back onto the path. She did not move. He knew now he would take another lost soul for his collection tonight. He pounced on her before she could turn and run. Finally, she was his. He tossed her to the ground and laughed, his eyes wild with excitement. She trembled at the site of him as he knelt down beside her. He could smell her fear as he pulled her face to his. He looked beyond her eyes, he was looking deep into her soul when suddenly he realized who she was. Memories of his past filled his mind. Faces of people who he once loved and cared about exploded before his eyes. He felt a squeezing burning sensation grip his chest and he could not catch his breath. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and for the first time in years he felt warmth and compassion. He slowly opened his eyes, looked down at her and released his grip. She was lying on the ground crying. He leaned forward and wiped the tears from her eyes and he knew then he could not take her soul, he could not hurt this woman. He stood up, turned and walked away back through the gaits of hell. He picked up his urn and never looked back. She whispered softly for him to come back.
Again she cried out, son please come back to me I need you, but he was gone.
As always, Forever faithful Sullycakes!
